Carter Tanton’s third album is due for release on May 7^th, 2021. ‘Steep Angels’ is its politically-charged lead single that takes queues from locations around his home: a Baltimore dirt-bike crew, Civil War monuments and John Wilkes Booth’s grave. It’s an eclectic mix that contrasts the beautiful simplicity of the ballad. Acoustic guitars accompany his airy lead vocal, which is bursting with melody. He explains that the track “was written in the immediate months after the events of Charlottesville, Virginia in 2017” and its political messages are linked to this.
